Ted Gleason was the Head Golf Coach at both the University of Southern California and Southern Methodist University and has 7 years of coaching experience at the Division I level, which includes 6 trips to the NCAA Finals with his team or an individual; one National Championship ring while serving as the assistant women's coach at USC; 5 years of experience as a professional golfer, playing all over the world and 4 years of college golf at UCLA. Over this time he has experienced the personal and professional commitment necessary to compete at the collegiate and professional level.
During his years as a professional, Gleason competed on the Asian, South American, Hooters, and Golden Bear Tours, while twice reaching the second stage of PGA Tour School and finishing third in the Canadian Match Play Championship. During his collegiate and amateur days he was the Bruins' team captain and No. 1 player as a senior while earning All-Pac-10 second team honors. He also was twice a U.S. Amateur medalist at local qualifying and a U.S. Amateur Match Play participant in 1991 & 1992; in 1991 he faced David Duval, losing 3 & 2 in the first round and in 1992 he met Tiger Woods only to lose on the 19th hole.
While coaching, he played an integral role with his collegiate players and assisted them in developing the skill sets necessary to be successful student-athletes. Specifically Gleason worked one-on-one with each student-athlete on his or her short game, mental development and course management. In addition, he took on an active mentoring role with each player and guided him or her in a direction towards becoming a better student-athlete. His playing, coaching, and life experiences have transferred successfully into the overall improvement of both his individual players and teams. Now, through Road To College Golf, he will continue to lead, motivate, challenge and direct the next generation of golfers through the college placement process.
To establish a world-class service, which provides leadership for junior golfers and their parents in selecting a "Best Fit" college(s), that matches their golf and academic abilities. To mentor and coach Jr. Golfers to develop both life and golf skill sets helping meet their goals as future student athletes in a college setting.
